OzHarvest Market Waterloo Store Person | Sydney

The OzHarvest Market at Waterloo opened in July 2020 and is OzHarvest’s only direct-to-community food relief program run by volunteers.

Volunteer Role:

Volunteers will help set up the OzHarvest stall at the market, sort out rescued food, and assist customers in shopping in a supportive and judgement-free environment. The volunteers will be on-site at the market from 8 am until 3 pm. This volunteering is an eye-opener, seeing you help people who are in need firsthand, with times that are more challenging right now.

Volunteers at the market will help replenish the shelves, serve the market's 400+ daily customers alongside OzHarvest staff and other volunteers, and assist with packing down at the end of the day.

It’s recommended to:
• Wear closed-in, flat shoes (e.g., joggers).
• Tie back your hair (if applicable).
• Wear comfortable, practical clothing.
• Bring a water bottle.

At the start of the day, the market manager will explain how the market operates and provide directions to each volunteer.

Parking is available onsite.

Points to note
It will be a tiring but rewarding experience, as they will see firsthand the community that has been built around this innovative space. The Insignia Community Foundation supports OzHarvest with Nourish, a hospitality training program, with this volunteering one other way we support the community and OzHarvest.
